I think that photographing the seniors in their honor is an amazing idea. Many of their expressions show sadness and sorrow because they did not get to play their final season. Through your choice of color and emotions the photos were able to portray the energy that you put in.
I was confused by this series of photos until I read the description. Once I did, I realized that I can relate to the subjects. Like many other seniors for class of 2020, I lost a lot of what I would traditonally receive when I graduated high school. The photographer states that other sports were able to play and you can almost sense the resentment the photographer feels for the seniors. I feel the same way about the class of 2021 seniors.
After reading through the description of the project, I can understand more so the emotion behind the photos. Although the photos might not trigger the same emotional response to a viewer like me, I'm sure the emotional response of the seniors was unmatched. Your photos to them aren't just portraits, they are photos that show the development of the kid who fell in love with being on the ice years ago, practiced daily, pursued the sport in college, and met a final season of heartbreak due to cancellation.
Growing up in a very hockey oriented family, I loved this collection! I really liked the last one of the teammates standing in a row because I can just sense the bond and excitement rising prior to the start of the game!
